Join other OLLI members at 1PM on April 14th to hear the Colorado Symphony conducted by Music Director Peter Oundjian with mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung, the women of the Colorado Symphony Chorus, and the Colorado Children's Chorale perform Mahler's monumental Symphony #3. Describing his aspirations for writing symphonies, Mahler wrote: "One is, so to speak, only an instrument, played on by the universe. The symphony must be like the world. It must embrace everything!” No Mahler symphony gives us a greater sense of this cosmic scale than the Third. This great hymn to nature is massive in scale requiring a colossal orchestra and set in six movements in sequence from the earthly and mundane to the sublime and heavenly. This is an epic piece of music and will prove to be a soul-stirring performance.
OLLI members will receive a group discount price of $30.80 a ticket.
