Get ready to embrace the beauty of Colorado’s winter landscapes! OLLI at DU Snowshoeing Shared Interest Group is beginning January 17th. This voluntary group plans to head to the mountains every two weeks starting in late January, continuing through February, and possibly into early March, depending on snow conditions. Each outing will begin with a meetup at the parking lot in front of Office Max on the corner of South Broadway and Alameda. Going north or south on South Broadway, turn West on Alameda Ave. Go one block to Bannock Street. Turn Left on Bannock and then immediately left into the parking lot. You should see a group of us where we will set up carpooling. Passengers encouraged to contribute $3–$5 for gas.
Please note that snowshoeing is a bit more demanding than regular hiking, and we will be at high altitudes where the snow is plentiful. Participants should be in reasonable shape and prepared for these challenges. Despite the effort, snowshoeing is a wonderful, social, and truly beautiful experience.
