CURRENT ECONOMIC ISSUES: FACTS AND FALLACIES   

This course will examine six key economic issues: GDP and economic growth, economic inequality, the government deficit and mounting national debt, our inefficient health care system, high prescription drug prices in the U.S., and immigration.

  1. Is it time to end our fixation with economic growth?
  2. Has the US’s widening income and wealth inequality undermined the American Dream?
  3. Will the US’s mounting national debt stymie future prosperity?
  4. Can America’s dysfunctional health care system be fixed?
  5. Can America’s surging pharmaceutical drug prices be tamed?
  6. Would Native-born Americans be better off with more or fewer immigrants?
